THE Chinese Bayberry "Dong Kui"  (Myrica rubra) is a small, subtropical fruit native to China and commonly cultivated throughout Asia. Also known as yangmei or yumberry, it features a vibrant red skin with a sweet, tart flavour reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries. The fruit is prized for its high nutritional value, boasting antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. "Dong Kui" is celebrated for its juicy flesh and small seed, making it a favourite for fresh consumption, jams, and beverages. It thrives in warm climates with well-drained soil and is harvested during the summer months, offering a refreshing taste of the season.
