ज्वाला फेंकने वाली हथेली<br> <i>चैम्बेयोनिया मैक्रोकार्पा</i>

Chambeyronia macrocarpa or Flame Thrower Palm is so called because new emerging leaves are often highly coloured in varying shades of red through purplish through to a bronzy colour. The colour does fade after a few weeks however with mature leaves being a deep bluish green. In its native habitat (New Caledonia), mature specimens can grow up to 5m tall with 8-10 large beautifully re-curving feather leaves comprising of thick ,widely spaced shiny leaflets making up the perfectly round crown. The solitary trunk is grey to greenish grey with widely spaced light coloured rings. The crownshaft bulges at its base and is a deep emerald green. A very strong, sturdy-looking palm.

Slow growing, this exotic and sought-after palm will grow in warmer parts of NZ but is also suited to growing in containers as an indoor palm which can be placed outside in summer.
