Hoya 'Krimson Princess - Exotica' #5

The original Hoya carnosa has been hybridised widely around the world. As it is the oldest of the Hoya species, we see many different cultivars and variations occurring, which is exciting and keeps things interesting for collectors.

Some of the Hoya carnosa varieties include Hoya carnosa ‘compacta’ , ‘Krinkle 8’, ‘Chelsea’, ‘Snowball’, ‘Alba’, and ‘Snowball’. The exotica varieties have become particularly popular in the last few years.

Hoya carnosa ‘ Krimson Princess – Exotica’ is admired by collectors and even non-plant lovers. It has a striking appearance with variegated leaves. As well as great foliage, it produces a wonderful flower with a chocolate perfume. We have a reverted ‘Krimson Princess- Exotica’ flowering in our hoya nursery at present, and during the evening, the entire room smells like a chocolate factory. 

We love its thick, creamy centres that are framed in a mid-green outer leaf area. This is a hoya that is easy to grow and likes to vine. It looks beautifully trained around a trellis or topiary frame.  It also looks great in a hanging basket.

Hoya carnosa ‘Krimson Princess – Exotica’ produces a beautiful soft to mid-pink flower.  Its centre is maroon red with a white corolla. Hoya carnosa ‘Krimson Princess -Exotica’ can be a little sensitive to over-watering. It is best to water thoroughly when dry.
