– Classic Flavour, Gorgeous Form
This tried-and-true mandarin is one of our nursery favourites. Miyagawa Wase produces large, juicy fruit that’s seedless, easy to peel, and packed with the rich, sweet citrus flavour satsuma lovers adore. The fruit’s slightly flattened shape and smooth thin rind make it a breeze to enjoy—whether it’s popped in a lunchbox or shared fresh off the tree.
It’s one of the earliest mandarins to fruit, typically ready for harvest in June, and grows more vigorously than many other satsuma varieties.
With its low-growing, spreading branches, Miyagawa looks stunning as a standard or patio tree. It also produces generously—so we recommend thinning out branches in winter to keep the tree balanced and productive.
Miyagawa has long been part of the citrus story in Aotearoa, forming the backbone of New Zealand’s satsuma industry. While Miho and Okitsu have taken the commercial spotlight more recently, Miyagawa continues to charm home gardeners with its flavour, form, and resilience.
After planting, feed with a balanced citrus feed in autumn and spring to keep your tree thriving year after year.
