Mature Size

Grows to around 2.5m x 2m after 7-10 years but can be kept smaller with pruning.

Foliage

Upright, glossy dark green leaves and fragrant white flowers.

Soil

Well-draining, rich in organic matter is ideal. Regular watering, especially during dry periods. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to root rot.

Position

Full sun is crucial for optimal fruit production and colour development.

Flavour

Intense mix of orange and raspberry, with a hint of tartness and a unique berry-like aftertaste. More tart than traditional oranges.

Fruiting

Early, starting around July and lasting through September. Fruit is smaller than Tarocco but larger than the Sanguinello blood orange.

Fruit Uses

Prized by chiefs for juice, cocktails, ice-creams and gelatos, and general cooking and baking. Beautiful eaten raw.
