Description
Description
The Dypsis decaryi or Triangle palm is a spectacular palm native to Madagascar. This imposing and beautiful palm is characterized by the unique way the leaf bases are arranged to form the shape of a triangle. Tall, stiff, grey-green pinnate leaves grow almost upright from the trunk and eventually begin arcing around 1m from the tip. The solitary trunk, brown-grey in colour is upright and smooth but marked by rings of fallen leaves.
Although frost tender these guys will grow well in warmer parts of NZ and for everywhere else, the shape of this beautiful palm makes it perfect for growing in a corner position of a bright conservatory, greenhouse or atrium. A highly ornamental palm which makes a great specimen but is still quite hard to come by.
