छत्र पाम<br> <i>लिकुआला ऑर्बिक्युलिस 'स्प्लिट फॉर्म'</i>

A rare and spectacular form of Licuala orbicularis from Borneo with divided leaves that produce a large central segment and two or four broad lateral segments. Very rare in NZ.

The leaves are large, simple, circular in outline and quite flat, just stunning. The natives in their natural habitat of Sarawak like them so much they cut the leaves to use as temporary umbrellas, then throw them away as soon as the rain stops. Rather tropical in their requirements, they make excellent potted plants in less favoured climates, and thrive in rich and moist soil, and humidity in the air.
