Lettuce Flashy Trout's Back

Lettuce 'Flashy Trout's Back' is a stunning Austrian heirloom romaine variety and one of the most prized lettuces available, producing dark green leaves dramatically splashed with wine-red speckles throughout. The effect is striking and distinctive, like paint flicked across deep green canvas, making it one of the most visually memorable lettuces you can grow. The flavour matches the appearance, with rich, buttery leaves that are tender and deeply satisfying fresh from the garden.

A selection of the traditional Austrian heirloom known as Forellenschluss, this variety performs reliably across a wide range of conditions and is well suited to year-round growing in New Zealand. An outstanding choice for anyone wanting a lettuce that delivers on both appearance and flavour in equal measure.
