Sarracenia rubra ssp. wherryi - American Pitcher Plant

Sarracenia rubra ssp. wherryi was named in honour of the renowned botanist, E.T. Wherry. This plant is known for its vibrant, trumpet-shaped pitchers. Compared to other similar species, Sarracenia rubra produces shorter, yet more abundant pitchers. It is also one of the larger species within the sweet pitcher complex. A distinguishing feature of this plant is the fine fuzz on the upper sections of its red-orange foliage, as well as its rounded lid and vivid yellow-green lip.

• Skill Level: Easy.
• Light: Min 3 hours direct sun, max all day.
• Water: Fill tray, keep in water at all times.
• Dormancy: New leaves stop forming during the colder months and old leaves will slowly die off.
• Potted Option: Pot Size 15cm (2L).
• Bare Root Option: Leaves will be trimmed and roots wrapped in sphagnum for cheaper shipping.

Please note Sarracenia are very large and leaves will have to be bent or cut down to fit in a box. Larger orders are larger boxes. If you need your plant to arrive at full height please message me after ordering to discuss larger box costs. Leaves grow quickly so you don't need to worry about losing some.
