Description
Cape Gooseberry
Physalis peruviana
A popular subtropical fruit producing clusters of bright golden berries wrapped in decorative husks. The flavour is sweet and tangy with tropical notes, making it ideal for fresh eating, desserts, preserves, and sauces.
Plants are vigorous and productive in warm, sunny conditions with fertile, free-draining soil. Often grown as an annual in cooler climates.
Fruit ripens in 90–120 days and drops when fully ripe.
Growing Instructions
Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost; transplant outdoors after the threat of frost has passed. For best results, plant more than one for cross-pollination.
