Coconut Newly Sprouted

Yes, these are real coconut palms and you won't find them for sale anywhere else in NZ. We grow them right here in our greenhouse in Auckland. Surely the most famous of all palms, coconuts are a true icon of the tropics.

The coconut palm hardly needs an introduction but is believed to originate from the Malesia region but of course is now cultivated everywhere in the tropics as a hugely significant agricultural crop but also as the ultimate architectural landscape palm. The perfect palm for coastal areas: no other palm will withstand as much wind and salt spray, so in this sense it can be considered hardy, but only in a tropical setting.

Outdoors it will not survive a frost or even prolonged cool. So in temperate areas like NZ this makes it an indoor proposition only. In a greenhouse, conservatory, or a light, warm sunny spot at your work place or home - the coconut is unrivalled for the instant tropical vibe it will create.
