Betel Leaf, Paan (Large Leaf Form)

The leaves are edible and mildly bitter and aromatic. In India and some other Asian countries it is common to eat 'Masala Paan' (sliced betel nut, lime powder and other spices rolled up in betel leaves) as a very mild stimulant, especially taken after food as a digestive. It also has countless other uses from breath-freshener to antiseptic to use in religious and cultural ceremonies as well as decoration!

In addition to all that, it also makes for a leafy, tropical-looking climbing vine in your Kiwi garden.
