Dypsis baronii, commonly known as the Sugar Cane Palm, from the mountains of Madagascar, is a really stunning specimen for tropical and sub-tropical gardens.  Admired for its clean, multi-stemmed appearance, this palm displays red/purple stems when young, changing to green/yellow when mature. The arching trunks and feather like fronds which form this palm give it a classic tropical look. Best in a sheltered, part-shaded site, however it can take full sun as well.  A moderate-paced grower, tolerant of light frost, mature height 3m+.
