Giant Dioon

The Giant Dioon or Dioon spinulosum can eventually grow to become on of the tallest Cycads in the world and it also happens to be one of the most cold hardy, so is very well-suited to outdoor growing in most parts of NZ. Native to Mexico, it has a lush crown of stiff, light green fronds, pointed at the tips. While slow growing, it will one day repay your patience and eventually steal the show in your garden, especially if it gives you seed comes which are amongst the largest of any living plant.
