Houailou Flamethrower Palm

Houailou Flamethrower Palm (Chambeyronia houailouensis)

The Houailou Flamethrower Palm is one of the rarest and most sought-after palms in the world. Native to the rainforests of New Caledonia, this stunning species produces dramatic new fronds in a vivid red colour before maturing to a deep, glossy green — a spectacle that never gets old.

Unlike its more common cousin Chambeyronia macrocarpa, the Houailou is a true collector's gem, prized for its rarity and elegance. With a slender, graceful trunk and arching fronds, it makes a breathtaking statement in any tropical garden or sheltered outdoor space.

Key features:

• Striking red new growth that matures to deep green
• Rare New Caledonian species — a true collector's palm
• Elegant, slender form suited to tropical and subtropical gardens
• Thrives in warm, sheltered positions with good drainage
