Hoya bardenii #2

Hoya bordenii is an intermediate level hoya (sensitive to overwatering) that is slower to grow but easy to flower.  It’s an extremely attractive hoya with a most spectacular red flower.  It is native to the Philippines and prefers intermediate temperatures (lowest continual temperature 15 degrees, highest continual temperature 35 degrees).

Its leaves are hard and thin and will mature around 15cm long x 4cm wide.  It is described by botanists as being of a mid-green colour that will sun-stress completely red with lighter, prominent veins.   This variety can often be confused with Hoya benguetensis but there are key differences in flowers.

The flower of Hoya bordenii is particularly spectacular, with 20 flowers per umbel.

Like all our hoya offered for sale at HoyaHoya, this has not been grown from seed and is expected to reach flowering maturity relatively quickly.
