Lipstick Palm

Just spectacular! This stunning feather-leafed palm hails from south-east asia
where it proudly displays the clumping (multi-stemmed) lurid scarlet-red stems that give it the names lipstick palm and sealing wax palm.

If you've ever admired these beauties overseas but sighed with regret about the inhospitable NZ weather, you're surely not alone. But why not try one indoors!

They can be painfully slow and need to be kept warm and wet. But for the patient devotee they will eventually reward with those brilliant bright red crownshafts, even when grown in pots, and yes, even right here in NZ.

Besides, we've done most of the hard work for you, we germinated the sees for this stock about three years ago. Very limited supply. Grab one of these incredible collector's palms and pop it in your conservatory, or think about popping a plug-in heatpad underneath its pot.
